The Overview

Alleviate Stress and Anxiety. Overcome Insomnia. Find relief from Joint and Muscular aches and pains with our treatments.

Practiced for more than 5,000 years, Ayurvedic massage originated from India and is based on the ancient principles of Ayurvedic medicine. Ayurveda, which translated means the ‘science of life’, uses a holistic approach to health and wellbeing to bring balance, harmony and unity among the body, mind, senses and soul. Along with the understanding of nutrition, medicine, daily/seasonal routines, exercise and behaviors that are beneficial or harmful to life, massage is another important component of Ayurveda and is a vital practice to improve longevity and vitality.

Massage is necessary for every individual, just as food is necessary for an organism to sustain proper function. Food provides us with nourishment from an external source, whereas massage excites the internal resources, stimulating lymphatic flow and providing nourishment to the entire body through increasing flow and absorption of blood plasma, proteins, amino acids, glucose, fats, hormones, enzymes, salts and lymphocytes.

There are many different methods of treatment practiced, but here at Veda Wellness we offer some of the most effective treatments; Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Kati Basti, Greeva Basti, Janu Basti, Vaksha Basti, Hridaya Basti and Netra Basti.

Relaxation Massage (Abhyanga)

Abhyanga is the anointment of the entire body with warm herbal oils.

A full body massage that will leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, calm and fresh. This treatment is perfect to harmonize, de-stress or just relax. Our relaxation massage known as an ‘Abhyanga’ uses warm herbal oils combined with scientific manipulation that helps remove built up toxins, stimulate lymphatic flow, soften tissues and improve mobility.

In Ayurvedic medicine, Abhyanga has been utilized as a major healing practice for its profound benefits on the physiology and psychology. The scientific manipulation of tissues combined with herbal oils, heated to a specific temperature allows for healing to take place on many layers of the body. By following a systematic approach, herbal oil is able to pass through minute channels in the body and penetrate into the deeper layers of the tissues.

The deep penetration of herbal oils removes the rigidity, dryness and blockages in the channels and creates mobility, lubrication and greater flow. This helps to drain the juices in the body that are in excess, stimulate lymphatic flow and soften/lubricate tissues. The removal of built up toxins along with the improved lymphatic function and soft/lubricated tissues helps to maintain the body’s equilibrium, strength and endurance as well as reduce potential for injury and pain.

Abhyanga is also specific to the individual’s constitution, specific strokes at varying speeds for a certain length of time are selected to encourage a more beneficial and direct treatment for the individual’s physiological makeup. Not only does Ayurvedic massage work with the physical, psychological and emotional levels, but also a major aspect of treatment is to enliven and improve the flow of Prana (life force or energy) by working with the Marma Points (Energy points) and the Chakras. After an Ayurvedic massage the client is left feeling more energetic, relaxed, calm and fresh.

Our Ayurvedic Therapist

When human beings experience pain, discomfort, stress, unease or poor health, it is not uncommon for their quality of life to be negatively affected and for things to begin to unravel. My great passion is to remove these impinging issues or lessen there affects to assist individuals to reach a better state of health. Growing up in a household where Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation were second nature, it has always been apart of who I am and has always been something I have wanted to share. I have observed the benefits of Ayurveda, meditation and yoga first hand, through myself and through those around me. It was no coincidence that when I was my happiest and healthiest, I was practicing these things daily. And when I was feeling most uneasy, unhealthy and stressed, I was not following an Ayurvedic lifestyle, meditating daily or doing yoga. This contrast gave me insight into how drastically life can be affected by the things we indulge in daily. By coming to this obvious, yet often overlooked realization, I followed my passion in Ayurveda and Yoga. Now I am a qualified Yoga Teacher and Ayurvedic massage therapist. I am still continuing my studies with Dr Ajit at the Australsian Institute of Ayurvedic studies and I will soon be a fully qualified Ayurvedic Practitioner.
